Hi, my name is Joel. I'm currently a year 3 Mass Communications student in Ngee Ann Polytechnic (NP). Ever since I was a kid, I've been obsessed with everything performative and  that tells a story, whether it be TV shows, movies, music, concerts, theatre plays or anything else. So having always had a passion for the arts and media, I chose to join the English Drama Club CCA in secondary school where I fell in love with production, be it live stage production, video production or studio production, and set my sights on pursuing that in my tertiary education.

After not doing well during my GCE O'Levels despite all my efforts, I made the decision to take a Higher Nitec course in Filmmaking (Cinematography) in ITE, as it allowed me to be able to learn more about the different aspects of video production from the pre-production stage, through production, all the way till post-production and seeing the final outcome. During my time in ITE, I learnt both the technical aspects of filmmaking such as lighting, sound and camera, as well as the creative and planning aspects of it such as coming up with ideas, scriptwriting, and planning all the necessary details of the production. Throughout my two years there, I fell in love with the creative side of production such as scriptwriting and planning the entire production as I enjoyed being able to piece together the millions of ideas that were constantly in my head, giving directions and taking a more leading role in the productions I took part in.

After graduating ITE, I decided to take a Diploma in Mass Communication in poly as I wanted to broaden my horizons past only filmmaking and video production into other areas in the media industry such as journalism, marketing, and advertising. However, after spending almost three years here, I found myself still gravitating towards production, especially scriptwriting, directing, producing, and audio.

In my free time, I also dabble in amateur photography, though I'm still not very good, and scriptwriting.
